Getting Your English Right (2000)

Getting Your English Right is a reference book that helps you use English with confidence and explains the differences between 3000 problem words that are arranged in pairs or groups.

Unlike a dictionary which defines words, this book points to the contrasts between them and helps you to select the right word each time.

This book has sold almost 20 000 copies and the third edition comes with a workbook that enables you to use the book to study English on your own or as part of a course.

This book is also on sale in adapted versions for the Danish, Swedish and international markets.

International reviews:

  • Elisa Perego, TESL-EJ:
…the book is a must in the student's and in the teacher's library, as well as the native speaker's one.
  • Alex Case, Tefl.net:
    - The first thing I should say about this book is that I learnt an awful lot from reading it.
  • The Hindu, India:
    - Minding your language the easy way.
  • English Online:
This book does just one job - it takes easily confused words and explains the difference between them. So if you have ever needed to know the difference between 'pitiable' (deserving of pity) or 'pitiful' (hopelessly inadequate), this is the book for you.

Broken English Spoken Perfectly (2004)

Broken English is perhaps the most widely spoken language in the world. It can cause amusement, a nodding smile or even perplexed bewilderment.

As the collected evidence in this book makes clear, native speakers of English are just as likely as others to put their foot in it and produce gems of broken English.

This book has sold almost 40 000 copies including the adapted versions for the Danish, Swedish, Finnish and UK markets.
